SASSA is currently experiencing delays in the Special COVID-19 SRD grant appeals process. Applicants are, therefore, encouraged to be patient as the agency is working on resolving the issue.
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) introduced the Special COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant to help South Africans who have been affected the most by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The R350 grant aims to assist those who are currently unemployed, over the age of 18 and not receiving any other form of government assistance.

The agency received many applications, however, not all of them were approved. Those who were declined were given the opportunity to appeal the grant.
However, due to a large number of appeals SASSA’s system has been experiencing delays.
SASSA has announced that they are doing everything they can to address the issue.
