No More Matric Results on The Media. The Department of Basic Education announced that matric results will no longer be published on the media platforms. The Department’ spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga said matric results will only be available at schools as in previous years.

Just before noon on Tuesday, the Department of Education spokesperson confirmed the letter posted on Twitter about matric results not to be published on media anymore. On Monday, the 10th of January 2022, media houses were issued with a notice, stating that “the usual practice of publishing the National Senior Certificate (NSC) results on public platforms (media platforms) will not occur for 2021”.

The reason for the sudden changes were stated as the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
In a letter to editors, dated 10 January, department spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga said matric results will be available at schools as in previous years.

“[PUBLIC NOTICE]The usual practice of publishing exam results on public platforms will not occur for 2021 exams. As was also the practice in previous years, all learners will be required to obtain their Statements of Results from their respective schools.” Reads the Twitter post by the Department of Basic Education.

When will the Matric results be released?

The Minister of Basic Education , Angie Motshekga, is expected to announce the results of the exam on January 20, 2022, while the provinces will release the results the next day, on January 21, 2022. Read more in full about matric results release.
